The Birds Down the Lane is the second book in the British Wildlife Tales series. As the family venture out on a walk down a quiet country lane they spot lots of birds that they don't see as often in their garden. Continuing the friendly vibe of The Birds at the Bottom of the Garden, this book is aimed at encouraging children and their grown ups out into the wider countryside to experience even more amazing species. The series was was imagined by Carl whilst he was drawing childlike cartoon pictures of birds so he could help his children learn how to identify the species that his little ones might regularly encounter. Follow the little one down the garden path to the bottom of the garden, down by the shed, where they sit and watch as 10 different species of bird come in to view. The book gently introduces each species with a collection of rhyming couplets conveying just a little about the birds' appearance and behaviour.
